Brief Description:

Technicians perform various environmental services including but not limited to asbestos inspections, lead inspections, and indoor environmental quality inspections. Technicians will work in a variety of work environments such as schools and commercial and residential buildings. Technicians will work alongside our engineering and reporting teams to identify hazards to protect public health and the environment.

General Responsibilities:

Site Work: Conducting various types of environmental inspections for school, commercial, and residential clients to help with compliance regarding environmental health and safety regulations. Travel throughout Illinois, involving early morning starts, after normal business hours work, and some overnight stays.

 

Documentation: Completing necessary paperwork and documentation to aid in the preparation of detailed environmental reports and providing necessary information for our Engineering team.

Preferred Experience & Traits:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Familiarization with building construction and building systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, safety, engineering, and/or a related field.

  • A self-motivated personality, strong communicator, and coachable individual who is dedicated to professional development.

  • Ability to think critically and assess situations (active problem solving).

 

Any of these or similar credentials:

  • Accredited EPA-NESHAP Asbestos Inspector

  • IDPH-Licensed Asbestos Inspector

  • IDPH-Licensed Asbestos Project Manager

  • IDPH-Licensed Asbestos Air Sampling Professional

  • IDPH-Licensed Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor

  • NORMI Certified IAQ/Mold Assessor (CMA)

  • OSHA training certifications

Work Environment & Physical Demands for the Position:

TRAVEL: This position entails travel throughout Illinois. Willingness to travel and a safe and reliable vehicle for travel is a must. 

 

Work hours will vary; early shift, second shift, and/or overnight work. This is not a position with a standard set shift.

 

The employee must regularly lift and/or move between 25-50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as to reach, kneel, crouch, or occasionally crawl. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Environmental Technician Training:

IDEAL will provide paid onboard training to learn and understand IDEAL’s systems, processes, procedures and expectations.

IDEAL will provide paid field training with senior personnel to accrue training hours, if necessary.
