Asbestos Six-month Surveillance / Three-Year Reinspections
The AHERA Law requires schools to do visual surveillances every six months to assess changes in asbestos containing areas. Ideal conducts over 300 six-month surveillances throughout Illinois. This service saves school administrators valuable time.
During the surveillances, we perform a visual inspection, review and update management plan books, check on custodian training, work permits and annual notifications, inform administrators of any changes in the law or procedures, and provide a complete report, all for a very low cost.
Every third year an Asbestos Three-Year Reinspection is required. It's never too early to chose a firm to complete your Three-Year Reinspection. Your time, energy, and money are valuable resources. Our low cost Three-Year Reinspection allows you to spend these resources on education.
Our track record speaks for itself. Our staff conducted the AHERA required Three-Year Reinspection for one of the largest "school systems" in the state: The State of Illinois Capitol Development Board.
Call us today for a proposal to do your Six-Month Periodic Surveillance and/or your Three-Year Reinspection. You'll find we provide more professional surveillances and reinspections at considerably less expense than most of our competitors.
Asbestos Repair, Operations & Maintenance
Schools throughout Illinois have saved thousands of dollars by following our recommendations to clean and repair damaged asbestos areas when feasible rather than remove the asbestos. This is the same position the EPA has: leave the material in place, maintain it in good condition, and monitor it.
Ideal provides EPA-AHERA accredited, IDPH-licensed Asbestos Workers and Supervisors for all your repair and cleaning needs. We do a professional job and provide complete reports.
Ideal provides 24-hour seven-day-a-week emergency repair services for unexpected incidents, such as pipe leaks, boiler leaks, storm damage, etc., involving asbestos.
YOUR EMERGENCY IS OUR EMERGENCY!
Our Central Illinois location on three interstate highways allows us to routinely provide IDPH-licensed Asbestos Workers and Supervisors to your school within four hours of your emergency call.
We now are offering Annual Maintenance Agreements (AMA) to our school clients. For a small yearly fee, you can have your thermal system insulation repaired in each building. Since the contract can roll over from year to year, superintendents don't have to go to the board every time they have repairs to do. You can keep up on your repair work and never let the insulation get to a damaged state. Join the many schools who are part of our AMA service today!
Call us with all of your asbestos repair and cleaning needs. We will provide the excellent service you expect, while saving you thousands of dollars.

We are active members of the Environmental Information Association (EIA) and the Illinois EIA. We are a member by Invitation of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) Services Associates, The Illinois Association of School Board Officials (IASBO), and the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA).
One of our areas of specialization is reviewing Asbestos Inspection Reports and Management Plans prepared by others. We lay out various options for abatement and repair, and help develop the most cost effective methods of dealing with the asbestos in each individual situation.
Unless a variance is received, EPA-AHERA and IDPH regulations on asbestos removal in schools requires a design plan by an IDPH-licensed Asbestos Project Designer, monitoring by an IDPH-licensed Asbestos Project Manager, monitoring by an IDPH-licensed Air Sampling Professional, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis of clearance samples (unless a project is very small), and a Project Manager Log Book documenting the work has been done to specifications.
The actual work itself must be performed by an IDPH-licensed Asbestos Contractor (not associated with Ideal), using all IDPH-licensed Asbestos Workers and Supervisors.
Virtually all of Ideal's design projects are completed within the schedules and limits set by the Owner.
Over the years our staff has developed methods, procedures, and flowcharts for designing and monitoring cost effective asbestos abatement projects in K-12 Schools, State of Illinois Capitol Development Board Projects, and many other types of buildings.
We also design and specify replacement material and equipment such as new boilers, pipe reinsulation, equipment reinsulation, ceiling tile, lighting replacement, etc.
Ideal is often employed as an Asbestos Consultant by other Architectural and Engineering firms. We also supply Asbestos Project Managers and Air Sampling Professionals to monitor projects designed by others.
Our excellent record of providing quality asbestos services makes Ideal uniquely qualified to provide Asbestos Project Design, Project Management and Air Sampling Professional Services.
As the public continues to become informed of its adverse health effects, low level lead exposure is an increasing environmental concern, especially to school administrators.
In children, lead exposure causes short attention spans, behavior problems, learning disabilities, mental retardation, stunted growth, anemia, and delayed mental and physical development. When medical test results indicate children have high levels of lead in their blood, Ideal can provide all services to remedy the problem.
Check out our lead page for more information about the risks of lead-based paint and how we can help you remedy the problem.
Do you have bleachers or grandstands in your schools district?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code 102, which has been adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education 23 ILL Adm Code 175, requires a property or facility owner to provide an annual inspection for assembly seating. In addition:
"At least biennially, the inspection shall be performed by a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect...the owner shall provide certification that such inspection has been performed."
Ideal performs these required Bleacher Inspections for many facilities throughout the State of Illinois:
Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer, our experienced inspectors are trained to keep you in compliance!
We provide complete documentation, satisfying NFPA Code requirements.
Ideal is centrally located, allowing easy access throughout the State.
Ideal can perform your required bleacher inspections. As part of our service, we provide detailed documentation under the supervision of our Licensed Professional Engineer. We make written recommendations and assess potential problems such as loose connections, dry rot, handrails, seat boards, frame supports, etc.
Our inspection is an independent third party inspection. We are NOT affiliated with bleacher manufacturing companies, and have no interest in promoting new bleacher sales.
Bleacher inspections are commonly done in conjunction with other services we provide (such as AHERA required six-month periodic building asbestos surveillance) to help reduce costs.
